Quiet Weekend – Back to Full on Writing

My weekend wasn’t actually quiet – when are they ever – but in terms of writing it was. I still managed a few moments of quiet contemplation between the mania that was the actual weekend, but never got the time to jot down even a note or two. However, now that the weekend is over I will have time to focus on writing again, so looking forward to that.

As things stand, I’ve finished one short story – The Devil’s Pâtissier – and am through first and second drafts on several others. As mentioned before* I’m looking to have at least 4 if not 5 or 6 stories ready to go before I start publishing, so I can have a buffer and release one short a month for the foreseeable future. It’s ambitious but if I’m going to do it I need to be bold.

What I need to do now is concentrate on writing them in some semblance of order as while the stories are self contained some plot points and characters are seeded or introduced in earlier tales. For example, the librarian I introduce in The Devil’s Pâtissier has a small part to play there as an introduction but she’ll play a much larger role later on. It’s a similar story with an event in what should be the 4th story which allows something else to happen further down the line.

The balance will be to make sure it’s not continuity heavy so I’m mindful of that.

Anyway, back to writing…

* I think I mentioned it before. Need to double check, but lets pretend I did
