40 Days of Awesome: Day 19

The Divine Comedy

No, not Dante’s noted works… you should know me better than that by now.

Neil Hannon is a wizard, there’s no two ways about it. ┬áHe knows how to craft a tune, and his lyrics are some of the most sublime I have ever heard. However, while he knows how to pen a fun little ditty, his output via The Divine Comedy and collaborations with other fine musicians over the years, if you take the time to listen… really listen, there are some truly beautiful and classical songs in there.

So, while you know of them from National Express, Generation Sex and perhaps My Lovely Horse, take some time to look up and enjoy such wonderful songs as The Certainty of Chance, The Dogs & the Horses, or Gin Soaked Boy. And then, crank up the volume for Everybody Knows (Except You) and I dare you not to pick up the phone and call someone you love.

Do it.
